A jam session would be fun! I just learned how to play Red River Valley last night.

By the way, I'm learning from the Hal Leonard Guitar Method Book 1. Let me know if you can recommend any that you like. I'm ready to buy book 2 but wasn't sure if there was another series that's good. So far though, I like this Hal Leonard series. I can follow along okay and actually play songs as I learn new notes.

Nice! I've been trying to play my guitar more as well, and I totally agree that it's worth it to leave it out on the stand (or hanging in my case) rather than in the case if it means you'll play it more.

Maybe we can jam next game night I can make it to

I got D'Addario EXP11 (light) strings? I had no idea, I just let the lady at the Guitar Center pick out whatever for me. These are coated which are supposed to last longer. Sold! Well, the nice thing about capo's is, they'll probably last you forever. I got a pretty straightforward one (Kyser - $20). Made in the USA!! As for the picks, I lose them all the time. I recently made one out of an old credit card and lo and behold, it lasted me all of a day.

As for the case, if the hassle of taking it out keeps me from playing the guitar as much, then protecting it is pointless. I'd rather have a warped guitar that I know how to play then a spotless one that I just take out every so often to admire.

lol, should've asked me for picks, I have plenty

A friend bought me a stand a while back. I really should use it but I'm worried about the humidity affecting the inside wood so I rather leave it enclosed in my case.

Capos are awesome. I overpaid for a really nice one because I heard the basic ones damage the strings faster. What kinda strings did you get?

I understand, 'cos you're an animal lover! If you're ever interested in ridding yourself of the mixed emotions and just feeling joy, I'm happy to talk about going meat-free! It's not as hard as you might think! :D
