I just went to the lousiest dentist practice ever!! They said I have cavities in 8 teeth! WTF!? I have been going to dentists every 6 months for years and I know cavities don’t just pop up in 6 months! At least not 8 of them all at once! She didn’t even see them in an x-ray or use the pokey thing to show softness in the teeth. She took photographs and told me all the dark grooves were cavities. I’ve had the dark grooves since I was a kid. No dentist has ever told me they were cavities. They are more prone to cavities I’m aware. She then said she’d fill them in 2 appointments so my whole mouth wouldn’t be numb. And again that is bullcrap cuz you don’t need novacaine for fillings that are shallow (it doesn’t hit nerve). So even if she were right and I do have 8 cavities I shouldn’t need any novacaine. I told them I’m getting a second opinion. And I told them I won’t need another 6 month appointment. Grrr… Plus they charged me $200 on top of what the insurance covered! Fer realz?! I haven’t changed insurance companies and the last dentist I went to charged me only $5. I know exactly why it cost so much though. This crap practice has so many cool toys. Hand held cameras that go in the mouth. TV screens in front of every chair. The Keurig coffee machines at the waiting room and a mini fridge stocked with bottled waters. But no box of tissues I noticed. All that costs money. I’m asking them to email me all the photos & x-rays. I paid for them! And I’m never going back there. What a group of quacks.

This brings me to a useful point. It’s good to go to different dentists if at least to learn different styles and such. Then you know when something is normal and when they’re bullshitting you. I’ve had 3 dentists diagnose me with cavities prior to this appointment, and all 3 used the metal pokey thing to check for softness or stickyness in the tooth and sometimes with an x-ray. I’ve had 2 fillings done as an adult that did not need novacaine.

Oh and here’s another kicker confirming they are bullshitting me: in 2 of the 8 teeth they said I have cavities, I know I have fillings in them already. Where she pointed to it saying I had cavities, I knew I had fillings there. What baloney. I’m sure my $2,000+ cavities fillings would pay for more TV monitors and hand held mouth cameras.
