The Daily Kvetch

20 February 2009

I hate school. With a passion. My writing juices are dried up. I can barely piece together a sentence. And I have to study an exam where I must use my worthless powers of memorization. How I struggle with that skill. I hated the game memory as a kid and I couldn’t memorize the multiplication table past the 2s. Someone bonk me on the head and put me out.

Me!

  1. meee tooo…well with the whole writing thing. my professors would be hypocrites if they made me memorize anything. studies say recalling/memorization is the worst way to teach/assess students. tell your prof recalling is considered the lowest level of learning, and he/she should learn a thing or two about teaching. :-P but then again you want that A…

  2. The prof gave us sample questions and even with open notes, I’m struggling to answer them. This is ridiculous. I didn’t pay three grand to memorize a bunch of facts I’ll promptly forget. I was hoping to learn how to think and apply these facts in potentially real situations.
He said, ‘Giving answers “in your own words” risks resulting in a score of “incorrect” for that answer.” So he wants everything verbatim.’ In other words memorize everything!

  3. wow, that’s absolutely ridiculous…
