I don’t understand finance and I’m trying to take a midterm exam on finance. It’s so bad that if I hear IRR and NPV in the same sentence, my brain goes into shutdown mode. That could be why I don’t understand finance. This weekend, I have:
- Downed over 10 cups of coffee. I’m about to make a fresh pot now.
- Emailed my professor with questions over 10 times. To the point where he replied: “Both of these questions are things that we have covered in class. I cannot do the exam for you.” To be fair, I was asking him if my approach/interpretation of the problem was correct, which was probably a bit too much detail.
- Learned more about finance through Investopedia and the textbook than the professor’s stinkin’ notes and slides.
- Banged head on keyboard – multiple times.
- Checked Facebook just to read everyone else’s complaints and make myself feel better.
- Checked Sephora.com for some Internet-window-shopping therapy.
- Complained to a certain few people about my predicament. Every other sentence that comes out of my mouth is, “what the eff?!?!”
I hate when professors can’t teach. I had this ghastly professor for Intermediate II Acctg who had NO REAL WORLD EXPERIENCE.
I hate Finance too. Good luck with your midterm!
If you can’t do, teach. If you can’t teach, get tenure. :p
ey ey ey. future educator here.
but yeah…that’s whats wrong with this messed up system. not enough qualified teachers to give a damn cuz the pay sucks. cept college professors… they get paid plenty so they dont have to give a damn.
K-12 teachers rock! *They’re* more qualified to *teach* than most college professors (imho).
Ha! Yeah, sorry K. I’m referring to professors. Professors are often doing other things like researching and writing articles that they forget they have a TEACHING job. Even when I struggled in K-12 (and I DID!), I never felt so clueless that I didn’t even know what questions to ask. It wasn’t until college and beyond that I’ve ever felt this level of lost beyond hope. Like I ask this dude a question and his explanation just loses me even more!
