Snowed all day yesterday starting early morning. Traffic was unmoving. I got on the freeway and realized I wasn’t getting anywhere after having gone maybe 2 or 3 miles in 30 minutes. So, I exited at the first chance and went to Starbucks to sit and get some reading done. (I later come to realize that was a smart decision as I heard more than a couple of people who took 3 hours to get to work vs. the usual 30 minutes.) There was a guy in there who was calling a buncha lawyers because he got disturbing the peace, trespassing, and restraining order violation charges on him that he wanted to dispute. Honestly didn’t mean to eavesdrop but I (and all the other folks sitting around me) pretty much heard his entire lifestory in too much detail because he was talking loudly. He’s on Xanax, homeless, and has a high school education. He was raised in a million dollar home in a good family. He had a nervous breakdown and has been off work on disability. He suffers from ADD and bipolar disorder and is medicated for both.  Seemed like he needed some refills though, or maybe just more caffeine.  He sounded mean on the phone.
