Water Pouch

No more disposable #1 PETE water bottles. I’m going with the #5 polypropolene2 instead because it won’t be dangerous for another few years when new research surfaces. Until then, I’m sticking to this.

Platypus Water Bottle
It’s a water pouch. They come in various sizes. I have the 2 liter bag and it’s as you can imagine, very big. But, you don’t have to fill it all the way and it’s a bag so it folds up when you’re done with it.  The portability is great but how do you wash this thing? Soapy hot water, shake it around? Is that good enough? I guess it’ll have to do.  Oh, the bottom is wide so it stands up too.

  1. How do these work in practice?

  2. Because I bought the 2 liter bag, I can’t really stuff it in my bag or carry it around with me to meetings and around the office. Instead, I use it as a desk water bottle. So I fill my cup from the pouch all day. The nice thing about that is, I don’t have to worry as much about cleaning it because there’s no mouth contact. I’ve stopped using water bottles at the office ever since. Bottom line: I’d buy it again. I’m considering getting the .5 liter size so it’s portable even when I fill it up all the way.
